3 UST PROGRAMS GET NEW ACCREDITATION FROM FAAP

/ 11 October 2022

THREE programs of the University of Santo Tomas were given new accreditation certifications by the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines.

These are BS Physical Therapy, BS Occupational Therapy and BS Sports Science. The programs are all under the College of Rehabilitation Sciences.

“The BS Physical Therapy and BS Occupational Therapy received fresh five-year accreditations valid until 2027, while the BS Sports Science program is now formally accredited as a Level I program, with the status valid until 2025,” UST said.

“The three programs underwent the remote virtual accreditation by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation from May 23-24, 2022,” it added.

A Level IV program is considered to be “highly respected as very high academic programs in the Philippines and with prestige and authority comparable to similar
programs in excellent foreign universities.”

The BS PT and BS OT programs have been granted full autonomy and the authority to offer new allied graduate programs and open learning or distance education and extension classes subject to information provided to the Commission on Higher Education.

For the Level I accreditation, BS Sports Science now enjoys full administrative and financial deregulation. The school can revise the curriculum without prior CHED approval.

The program was also given priority in the awards of grants and subsidies or funding assistance from CHED or the Department of Education.
