PBA TEMPORARILY SUSPENDS 2021 PHILIPPINE CUP STARTING AUGUST 4
The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) temporarily suspends its 2021 Philippine Cup starting August 4.
The league said that it was in support of the government’s directive in addressing the unwanted rise of COVID-19 Delta variant infections.
Furthermore, the PBA stated that the postponement was caused by the transition to a more stringent general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened and extra limitations over the National Capital Region until August 5.
From August 6 to 20, a tougher enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) will be in effect.
The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF EID) and the Department of Health (DOH) have not yet responded with the request of the league to move the games to Lipa, Batangas once ECQ takes effect.
