QUEZON CITY UNIVERSITY RECEIVES 8,000 LAPTOPS FROM LOCAL GOV’T

/ 8 November 2020

THE LOCAL government of Quezon City procured 8,000 laptops for students of Quezon City University.

Dell Philippines will supply the laptop units after winning the government bidding.

“We want our whole education system, from elementary to college, to be equipped as they transition to new learning modalities. These laptops will help our QCU students in attending their online classes while in the safety of their homes,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

The city set aside P168 million for the procurement of the laptops as well as providing monthly internet allowance and portable WiFi units to QCU students.

Mayor Belmonte expressed gratitude for Dell as the firm sold the units at a discounted price.

“When Dell Philippines learned that these laptops are for our public university students, they offered the units at a much affordable price compared to the current market value. We appreciate their support for our mission of providing technical assistance to our students,” she said.

The laptop units will be distributed to Quezon City University students before the end of November.

Faculty members would also receive 250 laptop units allotted to them by the QC government.

Meanwhile, Belmonte announced that Theresita Atienza is the new QCU president. She was the former Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the National Defense College of the Philippines.
