SOLON SEEKS STRONGER CONGRESS-LGU PARTNERSHIP TO PROTECT CHILDREN
HOUSE Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III has called for a stronger partnership between Congress and local government units (LGUs) to protect children from threats both online and offline.
Dy made the appeal before municipal mayors from across the Visayas during the 2026 League of Municipalities of the Philippines Visayas Island Cluster Conference at the Royce Premium Hotel in Clark, Pampanga.
The Speaker said child-safety laws and policies must translate into concrete services and protection that children and families can access in their communities.
Amid recent school shooting incidents and growing online threats against children, Dy cited House Bill 11387, or the proposed Responsible Firearm Ownership and Safe Storage Act, and House Bill 9965, or the proposed Children’s Social Media Safety Act.
Dy also urged LGUs to strengthen coordination with barangays, police, schools, parents, and social welfare offices to help prevent violence, respond to safety threats, and improve emergency response.
He stressed that effective child protection requires coordinated action between the national government and local communities.
