/ 26 October 2020

THE FACULTY and staff of the Visayas State University received fresh vegetables as part of the efforts to support frontliners during the Covid19 pandemic.

Hundreds of kilos of vegetables harvested from a local farm were distributed among university staffers and other frontliners by different government agencies through the project “Intensifying Vegetable Production to Mitigate Crisis Brought by Covid19” of the Visayas Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and National Resources Program.

“Yesterday’s harvest was successfully distributed and delivered door to door to all apartments and housing of the VSU faculty and staff,” the ViCARP said on Facebook.

It claimed a new record yield on October 13 after harvesting 1.5 tons of  vegetables which was distributed to staffers of the VSU, Covid19 frontliners, and other ViCARP member-agencies.

The Leyte-based university is ViCARP’s leading institution. It is in charge of leading the 24 other member institutions of the consortium.

ViCARP is funded by the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Resource Research and Development based in Los Baños, Laguna.
