DEPED ROLLS OUT NATIONWIDE ORIENTATIONS TO PREPARE SCHOOLS FOR KEY REFORMS
THE DEPARTMENT of Education has launched a nationwide series of orientations for school leaders and teachers to guide the implementation of major learning reforms ahead of the next academic year.
Among the key changes to be discussed is the shift to a three-term school calendar beginning in School Year 2026–2027.
The initiative follows the directive of Education Secretary Sonny Angara, aimed at ensuring that school officials and educators clearly understand the new policies as early preparations get underway.
Angara emphasized that the orientations are designed to provide clear, practical guidance and to support schools in managing a smooth and organized transition.
“Magiging matagumpay lamang ang mga repormang ito kung lubos na mauunawaan ng ating mga guro at school leaders kung paano ito ipatutupad sa aktuwal na sitwasyon,” he said.
“Sa pamamagitan ng mga orientation na ito, nais nating matiyak na handa at suportado ang ating mga paaralan para sa darating na school year.”
One of the first orientation sessions was held on April 8 at Miriam College in Quezon City, bringing together education officials and key stakeholders for an overview of reforms under DepEd’s Learning Systems strand.
Assistant Secretary for Learning Systems Jerome Buenviaje said the policies are geared toward building a more supportive and effective learning environment.
“These policies aim for a humane system for teachers, learners, and families—one that protects the conditions necessary for real learning to happen,” he said.
The session also covered flexible learning programs, learning continuity during emergencies, work immersion and off-campus learning for Senior High School students, and updated guidelines on lesson planning.
