UP RETAINS TOP SPOT IN 2026 EDURANK TOP 100 PH UNIVERSITIES
THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines has retained its position as the country’s top university in the 2026 EduRank rankings of the top 100 higher education institutions in the Philippines.
De La Salle University secured the second spot, followed by Ateneo de Manila University in third place. The University of Santo Tomas ranked fourth, while another UP constituent campus, UP Los Baños, placed fifth, and UP Manila came in sixth.
Mapúa University ranked seventh, followed by the University of San Carlos (8th), the Asian Institute of Management (9th), and Silliman University (10th), completing the top 10.
EduRank based its evaluation on three key areas: research performance, non-academic prominence, and alumni influence. These factors were weighted at 45 percent each for research output and non-academic prominence, and 10 percent for alumni impact.
The ranking drew from an analysis of approximately 944,000 citations across 84,700 academic publications produced by 229 Philippine universities. It also considered the visibility and influence of 1,341 recognized alumni.
In the broader Asian rankings, the University of Tokyo emerged as the top university, followed by Kyoto University, Tsinghua University, Peking University, and the National University of Singapore.
Among Philippine institutions, UP Diliman ranked 312th in Asia, while De La Salle University placed 400th and Ateneo de Manila University ranked 457th.
