USC TO LAUNCH NEW PQF LEVEL 5 DIPLOMA PROGRAMS

/ 17 December 2025

THE UNIVERSITY of San Carlos is set to introduce three new diploma programs under the Pilot Philippine Qualifications Framework Level 5 initiative, following the official launch led by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region VII earlier this month.

The programs—covering manufacturing and semiconductor engineering technology, as well as information technology—are part of a regional push to expand advanced technical and vocational education aligned with Cebu’s growing industrial demands.

Designed to meet workforce needs in sectors such as semiconductors, electronics, shipbuilding, metal fabrication, and mining, these initiatives aim to enhance skills development through modern facilities and industry-linked training.

USC Vice President for Administration Atty. Joan S. Largo emphasized the university’s support during the launch, highlighting the importance of aligning academic pathways with emerging industry trends.

She was joined by key university officials who affirmed USC’s readiness to integrate the new diploma programs and collaborate with industry and institutional partners.

The event brought together TESDA officials, industry leaders, and academic representatives, further reinforcing USC’s role in advancing higher-level TVET programs that contribute to regional workforce development and economic growth.
