DEPED TEAMS UP WITH KNOWLEDGE CHANNEL, SOLAR; REVIVES DEPED TV
THE Department of Education has partnered with the Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. and Solar Pictures Inc. to revitalize DepEd TV.
DepEd TV, the department’s flagship educational broadcast platform, proved vital during the pandemic by delivering lessons to millions of Filipino students when classrooms were closed and internet access was limited.
Under the partnership, KCFI will provide educational content and materials aligned with DepEd’s curriculum standards, while Solar Pictures will offer a dedicated digital terrestrial television channel for DepEd TV programming.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the initiative will make education more responsive, especially as climate disruptions increasingly affect school operations nationwide.
“We have communities where learners study in temporary shelters and teachers persevere despite losing their classrooms due to earthquakes or typhoons,” Angara said.
“These are the realities of our new normal. It is difficult, but deeply reassuring to know that partners like you continue to stand with us in keeping education going.”
KCFI President Rina Lopez said the partnership builds on their long-standing commitment to accessible learning.
“From early childhood to K–12 and ALS, we remain dedicated to delivering engaging, culturally grounded, and gender-sensitive lessons that make learning stick—supported by data, feedback, and continuous improvement,” Lopez said.
Wilson Y. Tieng, President and CEO of Solar Pictures, said the company is proud to help strengthen access to education.
“We look forward to this journey together and to witnessing the impact this collaboration will have on the lives of millions of Filipino students,” he said.
