“We have to show first the health of the student-athletes are protected while they are training before we start talking about tournaments,” sabi ni CHED Chairperson Prospero de Vera III.
“Within the week I should be able to issue the guidelines for training ng collegiate athletes,” sabi ni De Vera.
“And then I promised within three weeks the guidelines would be finished. Natapos naman within three weeks except lahat kasi ng issuance ng CHED we subject to mandatory public consultation. There are almost 2,000 universities, so ‘pag hindi ka nag-public consultation diyan talagang madaming magre-react,” dagdag
pa niya.
“’Yung public consultation took a little longer than I expected. I listened to some public consultation. Maraming related issues na niri-raise ‘yung mga universities, not so much with the guidelines but other issues that’s why it took sometime before the TWG could not finalize it,” sabi pa ng CHED chairperson.
“Kung makapasa sa Commission en banc I will issue it within the week, kasi ‘yung mga issues na ni-raise ng mga universities was not so much about the guidelines only but many of them were asking when do we allow the tournaments to happen.“
“Some of them are concerned that universities, smaller universities, will not be able to handle the cost. If the universities think that it is not cost effective they should not allow training of athletes,” aniya.
“And then the third one is on how you monitor it. Sa mga universities it is difficult to monitor so ‘yan ‘yung mga tinitingnan, and the option whether you do it inside the campus or outside. So, there were some of the issues na medyo matagal ‘yung usapan,” dagdag pa niya.
