SENATOR FILES PRIORITY BILLS PROMOTING INCLUSIVE DEVELOPMENT, PUSHES FINANCIAL LITERACY AND EDUCATION REFORM
SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go has filed a new batch of priority bills aimed at strengthening public service delivery in education, healthcare, labor, agriculture, housing, and governance.
Among his proposed measures, Go underscored significant initiatives to improve access to and quality of education, particularly through reforms that integrate financial literacy and entrepreneurship into school curricula.
One of his key education-focused bills seeks to introduce Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship as Core Subjects in Basic Education.
If enacted, the measure would embed financial discipline, innovation, and entrepreneurial thinking in the national curriculum, starting at an early age.
“This aims to develop a generation of Filipinos who are financially responsible, business-minded, and equipped with life skills to break free from poverty,” Go emphasized.
The senator believes early exposure to real-world financial concepts will help address long-term economic challenges by cultivating a proactive and self-reliant youth.
“We must equip our students not only with academic knowledge but also with practical skills they can use in life,” he said.
Additionally, Go refiled the Scholarship for Children of Military and Uniformed Personnel Killed in Action bill, which seeks to ensure continued educational access for the dependent children of fallen heroes.
This measure reflects his commitment to building inclusive support systems for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
Go also proposed the National Tertiary Games Act, which would institutionalize a nationwide collegiate sports competition to provide expanded opportunities for student-athletes across the country.
If passed, it would formalize support and funding for local collegiate sports programs, helping athletes excel both academically and athletically.
Earlier in this Congress, Senator Go filed several other education-related bills, focusing on improving access to tertiary education and enhancing support for learners and educators. These include provisions for scholarship expansion, upgraded learning facilities, and programs to upskill teachers.
In his statement, Go reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that “no Filipino is left behind” when it comes to access to essential services such as education.
“Hinding-hindi ko po sasayangin ang inyong tiwalang ibinigay. Patuloy po akong magseserbisyo sa inyo sa abot ng aking makakaya, dahil bisyo ko po ang magserbisyo sa kapwa ko Pilipino,” Go said.
