DEPED RAMPS UP EFFORTS TO SUPPORT LEARNERS WITH DISABILITIES
THE DEPARTMENT of Education is leading groundbreaking initiatives to support learners with disabilities across the country.
DepEd said these efforts align with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call for a more inclusive education system.
“The initiative aims to empower and support learners with special needs and disabilities, ensuring they have equal access to education, resources, and opportunities to thrive,” DepEd said.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara emphasized the agency’s commitment to inclusive education and digital innovation during a recent meeting of the Inter-Agency Coordinating Council for Learners with Disabilities.
“The Department is fully committed to harnessing technology not only for instruction but also for decision-making, resource planning, and inclusive service delivery,” Angara said.
DepEd also plans to convert SPED Centers into Inclusive Learning Resource Centers, aiming to expand access to special educational resources in every municipality and city.
Moreover, the agency is enhancing the Alternative Delivery Modes and the Alternative Learning System for learners with disabilities. It is focusing on capacity-building, policy monitoring, and integrating assistive technology and AI into classrooms to provide personalized learning experiences.
