ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM SIGNED INTO LAW

/ 6 March 2025

PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. signed into law the expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP).

Republic Act No. 12124, or the ETEEAP Act, allows Filipinos, particularly working professionals, to complete their college education for career advancement.

The law was signed on March 3.

“As an integral part of the tertiary education system, it shall provide undergraduate degrees for high school graduates, senior high school graduates, post-secondary technical-vocational graduates, and college undergraduates, including working professionals who were unable to finish or advance in college, or those who have earned a bachelor’s degree and wish to pursue a special graduate degree program without going through traditional schooling methods,” the law states.

ETEEAP will identify, assess, validate, and assign equivalent undergraduate and special graduate programs based on prior learning from formal, non-formal, and informal learning systems, as well as relevant work experience, to qualified individuals for the grant of appropriate academic degrees.

Filipino citizens, whether residing in the Philippines or abroad, can apply for equivalency and accreditation if they meet the requirements.

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) will lead the implementation of the ETEEAP.
