STUDENT PILOT AND INSTRUCTOR SAFE AFTER EMERGENCY LANDING; PNP AIR UNIT QUICK TO RESPOND
DEMONSTRATING swift action and commitment to public safety, the Philippine National Police Air Unit successfully responded to a distress call from a Piper Tomahawk aircraft experiencing an emergency landing on February 19, 2025.
Based on report, at around 9:47 AM, while conducting a proficiency flight aboard a PNP Robinson R44 helicopter, the crew, led by Pilot-In-Command PMAJ Bjorn Nicole A. Blanes, Co-Pilot PMAJ Junedel S. Mormolindo, and PCPT Benedict DT De Guzman, received a distress signal from Piper Tomahawk RP-C1085.
The aircraft, operated by Fliteline Aviation, was forced to make an emergency landing in an open field in Brgy. Langlagan, Plaridel, Bulacan.
The PNP Air Unit immediately responded, arriving at the crash site within minutes to assess the situation and ensure the safety of the aircraft’s occupants, Flight Instructor Capt. Valentin Torres III and Student Pilot Mr. David Cabrera.
Fortunately, both pilots were unharmed.
After confirming their safety, the PNP personnel coordinated with Plaridel Municipal Police Station and the Aviation Security Unit 3 (AVSEU 3) to turn over the scene before resuming their flight mission.
Expressing gratitude for the PNP’s timely intervention, PNP Chief, Police General Rommel Francisco D Marbil, commended the PNP Air Unit’s professionalism and quick response, underscoring the dedication of police personnel to safeguarding lives beyond law enforcement duties.

The bravery and quick action of our pilots embody the PNP’s duty to serve and protect, not just on the ground but even in the skies,” PGen. Marbil stated.
The Chief PNP also echoed the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., who has consistently emphasized the importance of efficient law enforcement and public service in Bagong Pilipinas.
“Under the leadership of our President, we continue to uphold the trust and confidence of the people by showcasing our dedication to duty. This incident serves as a testament to our readiness to act swiftly and professionally in any emergency situation,” he added.
