/ 29 January 2025

A TEAM from the University of the Philippines Visayas secured a spot among the top six finalists in the 9th Mergers and Acquisitions Challenge.

The team, composed of 4th-year BS Accountancy students Sara Shane Labrador, Kyla Anna Marie Sabtal, Noriel Alyanna Sandigan, and Honey Mabelle Villarba, stood out among 104 participating teams from universities nationwide, showcasing their dedication and innovative approach to solving M&A cases.

Last week, the six finalist teams presented comprehensive business reports, financial analyses, valuations, and sentiment analyses before a panel of PwC Philippines partners, industry experts, and entrepreneurs.

The team was guided by adviser Rowelle Serilo, a faculty member of the Department of Accounting.

The M&A Challenge is an annual case study competition hosted by PwC Philippines. It immerses undergraduate students in the complexities of the Philippine M&A process while honing their practical skills and real-world business insights.

This year’s case focused on a hypothetical banking client seeking to enhance operations through emerging technologies, with participants tasked with devising innovative strategies for leveraging technology.
