CHED INVESTIGATES SCHOOL’S UNAUTHORIZED FIELD TRIP

/ 29 January 2025

THE COMMISSION on Higher Education is investigating a private school in Quezon City in connection with its field trip to Hermosa, Bataan.

CHED Chairperson Prospero De Vera III stated that the commission will issue a show-cause order to Bestlink College of the Philippines to explain the recent incident involving its students.

According to social media posts, students from Bataan walked home to Manila due to the absence of transportation. Many of the students fainted from exhaustion and hunger during the long walk.

Meanwhile, the Quezon City local government has urged all schools to prioritize student safety when organizing large-scale events.

In a statement, the local government reminded schools of their responsibility to exercise due diligence, ensuring meticulous planning and close coordination with local government units and relevant authorities.

“Adherence to established safety protocols is non-negotiable and must be strictly followed to protect students and avoid unnecessary inconvenience to the public,” it said.

“We call on all educational institutions to uphold these standards. Together, let us create a safer, more responsible environment for our students and the broader community,” it added.
