USTP, DOH REGION X COLLABORATE ON MEDICAL ELECTIVES PROGRAM
THE College of Medicine at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) and the Department of Health – Region 10 (DOH Region X) have strengthened their partnership to co-develop a Medical Electives program.
During a recent meeting, the two parties discussed creating an immersive program that integrates DOH initiatives into the academic training of medical students.
The collaboration aims to provide students with early exposure to public health practices and community health systems.
Key components of the program include an orientation on the “Doctor to the Barrios” initiative, insights into policy-making processes, and an overview of health facility evaluations conducted by the Regulations, Licensing, and Enforcement Division.
Additionally, students will have the opportunity to observe critical services provided by the Regional Epidemiology, Surveillance, and Disaster Response Unit of DOH Region X, ensuring hands-on learning experiences in public health and disaster response.
“The collaboration between DOH Region X and the USTP College of Medicine strengthens the integration of medical education with practical healthcare, reflecting USTP’s commitment to high-quality, industry-integrated training that equips students with the demands of the medical profession,” the university said.
