/ 20 November 2024

A FRESHMAN tourism student from Mariano Marcos State University earned a top spot at the Virtual Community and Technological Camp Nusantara 2024, organized by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember in Indonesia.

Renz Jedrick Queja’s poster on Rendang, a popular Indonesian dish, was among the four best entries out of 277 submissions.

Queja’s design highlighted the cultural and historical significance of Indonesian cuisine, aiming to immerse viewers in the richness of the dish.

The virtual camp drew participants from 46 universities across countries such as Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines, showcasing the diverse culinary traditions of Indonesia.

Prof. Alfred Lord Floresca, planning and development coordinator of the College of Business, Economics, and Accountancy, praised Queja’s achievement, highlighting the preparedness of MMSU’s tourism and hospitality students.

Chief for linkages and partnerships Quincy Savellano emphasized MMSU’s dedication to providing students with international exposure and fostering growth through global partnerships.

This year’s camp, themed “Wonderful Indonesia Cuisine with the Full Exploration of Indonesia through Cuisine/Culinary,” continued its mission of promoting cross-cultural understanding through food.
