66 LGUs RECOGNIZED FOR PROMOTING CHILD WELFARE
AROUND 66 local government units in Western Visayas were recognized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development for their strong programs in promoting child welfare.
DSWD-6 Regional Director Arwin Razo led the conferment of the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance as part of this year’s celebration of National Children’s Month.
This year’s theme ‘Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines’ aligned with the goal of SCFLG to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for children.
Twenty-eight LGUs from Iloilo were awarded – Alimodian, Anilao, Banate, Batad, Bingawan, Cabatuan, Passi City, Concepcion, Dingle, Dumangas, Guimbal, Igbaras, Tigbauan, Lambunao, Leganes; Leon, Maasin, Miag-ao, Mina, New Lucena, Oton, Pavia, Pototan, San Joaquin, San Rafael, Santa Barbara, Zarraga, and Iloilo City.
The province of Negros Occidental has 11 – Bago City, Cadiz City, Talisay City, Himamaylan City, Hinoba-an, La Castellana, La Carlota, Manapla, Murcia, Victorias City, and Silay City.
Aklan province has eight: Balete, Batan, Buruanga, Ibajay, Kalibo, Lezo, Nabas, and New Washington.
The province of Capiz also has eight – Cuartero, Dao, Dumarao, Ivisan, Jamindan, Maayon, Sapi-an, and Tapaz.
Antique province has six – Barbaza, Laua-an, Patnongon, San Jose, Sebaste, and Sibalom.
Guimaras province has four LGUs: Buenavista, Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo, and Sibunag.
