SENATOR PUSHES FOR PREVENTIVE STRATEGIES AGAINST YOUTH DRUG USE
SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go is advocating for preventive strategies to protect young Filipinos, who are particularly vulnerable to drug use.
As chair of the Senate Committee on Youth, Go highlighted the importance of educating students about avoiding vices, including illegal drugs, from an early age.
“I suggest crafting laws that would include drug prevention knowledge in the school curriculum,” he stated, advocating for a proactive approach to combating addiction.
“Engaging in positive activities is key. I encourage the youth to ‘get into sports, stay away from drugs to keep us healthy and fit!'” he emphasized, linking this message to his role in establishing the National Academy of Sports.
Go proposed incorporating drug awareness programs within schools as part of a broader educational strategy to tackle drug abuse. By instilling preventive values from a young age, he believes the government can reduce drug addiction among youth.
He urged cooperation between legislative chambers, stressing that addressing the drug crisis requires solidarity among policymakers. “I am committed to developing accessible rehabilitation centers and ensuring the protection of human rights,” he stated.
