/ 21 September 2024

STUDENTS from Philippine Science High School – Cordillera Administrative Region Campus have won the Department of Science and Technology – National Academy of Science and Technology Youth Science Fest Game App Competition.

The students who won were Lloy Gladwin, Jonavel Adawe, Samantha Samson, and Yael Solimen. Their app won first prize in Salinlahi Evolution, an app development competition.

According to DOST, Team Technolikha’s game, Telling Science Top Down, aims to address issues concerning the biosphere, particularly focusing on land and water.

The game includes a series of puzzles that must be solved by the player, Dr. Likha. The character is inspired by the concept that individual actions and participation are instrumental in creating change and, ultimately, in saving a deteriorating world.

The awarding ceremony was held during the second day of the 2024 National Youth Science, Technology, and Innovation Festival on September 19, at the Philippine International Convention Center Forum Tent, Pasay City.

ACD Jaime Montoya, President of DOST-NAST Philippines, said that they are dedicated to promote Philippine Science and Technology, particularly among the youth with the aim of inspiring them to pursue careers in STEM.

This year, the event was themed “Fostering Sustainable Development Goals through Gamification.”
