/ 17 August 2024

SENATOR Sherwin Gatchalian was elated over the appointment of Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez as the new director general of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority or TESDA.

“I congratulate Congressman Jose Francisco ‘Kiko’ Benitez on his well-deserved appointment as Director General of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA),” Gatchalian said in a statement.

The senator stressed that he is one with several other education stakeholders who believe in Congressman Benitez’s capacity.

“I thank President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr, for appointing him to the post,” the senator added.

The chairman of the Senate Basic Education Committee is optimistic that the TESDA will benefit from Congressman Benitez’s experience as a former university president, lawmaker, and commissioner of the Second Congressional Commission on Education or EDCOM II.

“Congressman Benitez can count on my full support, and I look forward to working with him in reforming the Technical Vocational Education and Training sector to boost the job readiness of our senior high school graduates, promote upskilling and reskilling, and reduce jobs-skills mismatch,” he promised.
