TDC SEEKS URGENT MEETING WITH DBM CHIEF ON SALARIES AND BONUSES
A TEACHERS’ group has requested an urgent meeting with Department of Budget and Management Secretary Amenah Pangandaman to address concerns affecting public school teachers.
In a letter dated July 4, 2024, Teachers Dignity Coalition national chairperson Benjo Basas reiterated the group’s request for an update on the anticipated salary increase for civilian government employees, including public school teachers, for fiscal year 2024. This request follows previous communications dated March 25 and May 10, 2024.
In addition to the salary increase, the TDC also seeks clarification on the long-awaited Performance-Based Bonus and queries about the impact of Executive Order No. 61.
The TDC said that these issues should be taken seriously and addressed promptly, considering that DepEd has one million employees, not to mention other government employees waiting for the salary increase for fiscal year 2024.
The group hopes that Secretary Pangandaman will respond favorably soon.
Earlier, the TDC said that these matters will also be brought to the attention of incoming Secretary Sonny Angara once the lawmaker assumes the post of DepEd chief and grants their request for dialogue.
