THE DEPARTMENT of Education has joined forces with various government agencies to strengthen the Technical and Vocational Education and Training and Senior High School employability.
DepEd signed the Joint Memorandum Circular with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Commission on Higher Education, and Department of Labor and Employment.
Under the JMC, “Ensuring Quality-Assured Assessment for Certification of Senior High School Technical-Vocational Livelihood Track” and “Strengthening Senior High School Curriculum and Delivery by Embedding TVET in Senior High School Tracks towards Workforce Readiness and Employability” will be conducted, ensuring the embedding of TVET in all SHS tracks.
There would also be assessment certification for having a National Certificate and having industry-relevant skills and knowledge of SHS graduates.
Those who attended the ceremonial signing were DepEd Undersecretary and Chief-of-Staff Atty. Michael Wesley Poa, Undersecretary for Curriculum and Teaching Gina Gonong, DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, CHED Commissioner Dr. Ethel Agnes Pascua-Valenzuela, TESDA Deputy Director General for Policies and Planning Rosanna Urdaneta, CESO II, and EDCOM II Co-Chairperson Senator Sherwin Gatchalian.
