THE DEPARTMENT of Education has implemented asynchronous classes or distance learning on April 29 and 30 for all public schools amid the latest heat index and nationwide transportation strike.

Teaching and non-teaching personnel in all public schools shall not be required to report to their respective stations, the DepEd said.

However, scheduled school activities on such dates which were organized by Regional and Schools Division Offices, such as Regional Athletic Association Meets and other division or school level programs should push through.

Meanwhile, private schools are not covered by this advisory but also have the option to implement distance learning on April 29 and 30.

Transportation group PISTON earlier announced that it would conduct a three-day nationwide strike from April 29 to May 1.
