QC PUBLIC SCHOOLS TEACHERS ASSOCIATION: EXTREME HEAT MAKES STUDENTS UNFOCUSED
QUEZON City Public Schools Teachers Association said that extreme heat experienced by students makes them unfocused during classes.
“Ang epekto [ng init] ay wala na sila sa focus, ‘yung minsan nakakaramdam din sila ng hirap sa paghinga lalo na ‘yung may mga hika, tapos yung iba may sore eye, may bulutong, rashes, allergies,” Erlinda Alfonso, QC Public Schools Teachers Association president, said in a radio interview.
Alfonso also said that based on their survey, some only have two electric fans inside the classrooms with more than 35 students each.
As a long-term solution, she said there should be more classrooms to accommodate all the students with proper ventilation inside their rooms.
“Dapat magdagdag ng classroom kasi dapat 1:35 ang bilang ng bata, ngayon po talagang 50 [or] 55 ‘yan, talagang mahihirapan po lalo na sa kasagsagan ng panaho,” Alfonso added.
