DEPED REGION X READY FOR CLASS OPENING TODAY

/ 5 October 2020

THE DEPARTMENT of Education in Region X conducted a dry run of classes on Wednesday, September 30, to show its readiness for the opening of classes today, October 5.

All 14 divisions of DepEd Region X joined in the simultaneous event, which aimed to strengthen the public’s awareness of the opening of the school year.

Education Regional Office Director Arturo Bayocot said that the event highlighted the collabora-tion of the Education department with the teachers, parents, partners from both government and non-government agencies, media, and other stakeholders.

“We have prepared our Basic Education Learning Continuity Plans to address our educational needs under the ‘New Learning landscape.’ Thanks to our partners for generously helping us in implementing all our LCPs in the Region,” Bayocot said.

“We continue to explore and exhaust all other possibilities to ensure that in the delivery of quality education in these times of education emergencies, no one will be left behind,” he added.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones and all the DepEd undersecretaries virtually gave their messages of support for the regional kick-off.

Alongside the pre-opening of classes was the pre-celebration of World Teachers’ Day, which will also take place on October 5.

Bayocot lauded the teachers for selflessly and courageously offering their services even to the seemingly unreached, financially challenged, and those with difficult circumstances.

In one of the Region’s management committee meetings in preparation for the October 5 celebrations, Bayocot said that teachers should be recognized not only during the annual celebration of the National Teachers’ Month but every day of their lives.

“They not only develop globally-minded citizens, but also nurture families, strengthen communities, and build the nation at large,” he added.

Another highlight of the celebration was the presence of local officials and partners from non-government organizations and other stakeholders who featured their support programs for the department.

Virtual performances from the learners, teachers, and other guests added color to the celebrations.
