ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro on Sunday stressed that teachers and students with their parents are demanding to revert the start of classes to June like in the old days.

“It is not some arbitrary whim but the result of the horrendous heat that teachers and students have to endure during summer classes that many were hospitalized or fell sick,” Castro said.

She added that students and teachers also go to school during the rainy season and have well-adapted to it.

Castro further stressed that it seems that more time for classes was wasted during summer because classes cannot have lessons due to the extreme heat.

“Dagdag pa ang Agosto hanggang Nobyembre dumarating ang mga matitinding bagyo. Na nagsasanhi ng pagbaha. Noong isang taon nga ay simula pa lang ng opening ng klase ng Agosto ay suspended na agad dahil sa bagyo,” she said

“Ayaw na nating maulit ito sa ating mga guro at mag-aaral kaya dapat ay hayaan ng makabalik sa Hunyo ang pasukan sa lalong madaling panahon at huwag ng harangan pa,” the lawmaker further stressed.
