UP OFFICES LAUNCH ALUMNI MENTORING PROGRAM
THE University of the Philippines established an Alumni Mentoring Program to further push the initiatives of the university for efficient career guidance.
The program was launched last November 8, with the partnership between the UP Office of Student Development Services and the UP Diliman Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
The Alumni Mentoring Program aims to “put the needs, desires, and challenges of the mentee (trainee) at the core of the mentorship experience” by using the method of mentee-centered mentoring.
UP President Angelo Jimenez said that the mentors through this mentorship will help to hone the future leaders of the country.
“Your mentors are here to guide you, not for you to follow their paths, but for you to create your own,” the President stated.
Assistant VP for Academic Affairs (Student Affairs) and OSDS Director Shari Niña Oliquino stressed that the mentors are the “cornerstone of this initiative” and she’s hoping that this program will encourage other alumni associations and private organizations to provide career assistance to UP students.
The program starts this month (November 2023) until February 2024.
