PUP PARTNERS WITH DOST-PHIVOLCS

/ 4 May 2023

THE Polytechnic University of the Philippines and the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology signed a Memorandum of Understanding on disaster risk reduction management programs.

Officials of PUP led by PUP President Dr. Manuel Muhi and Rapid Earthquake Damage Assessment System Program Coordinator Maria Leonila Bautista were present during the signing event.

The partnership aims to train PUP personnel and improve the school’s preparedness and resilience for “The Big One” and other types of risks.

“We are happy that we are finally partners with PHIVOLCS because our leadership is committed to becoming a disaster resilient Sintang Paaralan,” Muhi said.

“We look forward to gaining firsthand knowledge and enhancements to our disaster risk reduction management programs, as well as our climate change adaptation initiatives. Hopefully, the whole community really takes advantage of this opportunity,” he added.

The collaboration was made possible through the University Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and Disaster Resilience Institute.
