EIGHT Higher Educational Institutions signed an agreement to create the Consortium of Open Distance Education Providers in the Philippines.

The CODEPP aims to advance open eDistance learning in the country through the combined efforts of the HEIs.

The participating universities are the Benguet State University, University of the Philippines, Cavite State University, Central Luzon State University, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, Ifugao State University, Mariano Marcos State University, and Foundation Maritime University.

The UP Open University will be the chairman of the consortium being the “pioneer and leading institution in open and distance learning” for the first two years.

A memorandum of agreement was signed by school heads last January 31, 2023.

“The consortium aims to increase the opportunities for knowledge and idea-sharing to raise the standard of distance education in the Philippines,” the Benguet State University said.

The group will promote strategies for learning and sharing of best practices in instruction for open distance eLearning.
