iACADEMY MUSIC PROF FIRST FILIPINO TO JOIN AUDIO ENGINEERING SOCIETY STANDARDS COMMITTEE
iACADEMY music professor Gerard Paul Elviña is the first Filipino and second Asian to join the Audio Engineering Society Standards Committee, a prestigious organization responsible for establishing the AES Standards Program.
The committee develops and publishes a number of technical standards, information documents and technical reports in the field of professional audio technology.
“I feel honored and privileged as this was dominantly composed of Americans and Europeans. I’m actually the 2nd Asian to be part of them,” Elviña said.
In 2020, Elviña was chosen by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts to be its validator for the National Capital Region. The project, in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, will establish the qualification standards intended for the Creative Sector, focusing on Film and Video post-production.
The music professor played a crucial role in examining and strengthening the training regulations that prepare an individual to become a practitioner in the field of film and post-production.
Elviña is an audio expert and is a resident faculty at iACADEMY’s BA Music Production and Sound Design.
Launched in April 2021, iAcademy’s program was designed to nurture the students’ creative talents and familiarize them with the latest digital technology.
“We are at par with the other Audio Schools around the world being an Avid Learning Partner for ProTools — (the first ALP Academe in the Philippines) and we also have a partnership with Dolby Atmos — which is the future of Audio and Music. Our faculty is composed of seasoned and distinguished practitioners with a combined knowledge and wisdom of over 50 years in the industry. Add to that, iACADEMY’s program offerings are really unique and truly game changing and that would really place the Philippines in the world’s technological and education radar,” Elviña said.
Meanwhile, iAcademy President and Chief Executive Officer Vanessa Tanco said that the school ensures that its faculty are among the top in their fields.
“iACADEMY really ensures we have the best mentors and most-sought after professionals in the country. Our faculty are not just learned individuals but they are also experts in their fields — updated with the latest trends and developments and constantly learning from prestigious institutions and organizations, so that our students get the best quality education that can be provided for them,” Tanco said.
iACADEMY offers Audio Production for Senior High School and BA Music Production and Sound Design for College. Admissions are open for School Year 2022-2023.
