EX-UDM EXEC CALLS FOR INFRA INVESTMENT, TECHVOC FOR EDUCATION SECTOR
FORMER Unibersidad de Manila President Malou Tiquia called for more infrastructure investment for the education sector, especially in the technical vocational department.
In a Facebook post showing the new facade of the school’s Henry Sy Sr. campus where techvoc students are located, Tiquia said students must feel schools are their secondary homes.
She added techvoc students are the way to build a nation of entrepreneurs.
“The UDM downtown campus is where techvoc programs are offered. Soon, the students who are into techvoc will no longer be treated like second citizens,” Tiquia said.
“They now have a building worthy of a university and not a leaking, smelly, dingy, and dirty building that has seen better days. The building was the old Clover Theater that became a parking lot before it was converted to UDM downtown campus,” she added.
Tiquia stepped down from office last August 2021 after two years in service.
