THE COMMISSION on Human Rights has stressed that even the needs of teachers must be addressed since they have been putting their best efforts to carry on the learning system in the country despite the Covid19 pandemic.

“As we honor and express gratitude to all Filipino teachers, let us also heed and address their concerns such as their vulnerability to contract coronavirus when delivering modules to students, coverage of expenses in the printing and distribution of learning modules, and the lack of internet access, equipment and other provisions for remote teaching,” said CHR spokesperson Atty. Jacqueline De Guia in a statement.

De Guia noted how teachers are doing their effort to make sure no students will be left behind and that blended learning is for everyone unmindful of one’s status.

CHR also expressed its gratitude and saluted all teachers who have unending dedication in helping the youth.

“Teachers are instrumental in fulfilling the potential of the youth. Despite current uncertainties, young people move forward to the future equipped with essential skills and knowledge acquired through the commitment of teachers,” added De Guia.

“In one way or another, teachers have contributed in our pursuit of a life of quality and dignity. Salutations and utmost gratitude to all Filipino teachers!.”

The CHR statement is in line with the celebration of National Teachers’ Month starting on September 5 and culminating with the World Teachers’ Day on October 5.

This year’s global theme is “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future”.
