LAWMAKER FILES ‘PATRIOT’ BILL
PARAÑAQUE City Rep. Joy Myra Tambunting has filed a measure that aims to instill patriotism and nationalism among the youth.
House Bill 10100 or the Youth Patriotism and Bayanihan Act seeks to develop fundamental and specialized programs in the Basic Education Curriculum.
These programs will be for students from Grades 1 to 12 which shall consist of physical fitness, arts and cultural heritage, community outreach, basic disaster risk reduction and management, and basic security.
The measure also proposes a more specialized program for those in senior high school to consist of internal security and peace and order, dedicated risk reduction and management and advanced security and career development.
Tambunting said that the measure aims to equip the youth with necessary knowledge and skills for them to be productive and with a greater sense of community.
