TEAM SECRET SET TO JOIN VALORANT SCENE AFTER SIGNING FORMER BREN ESPORTS ROSTER
Global esports powerhouse Team Secret is entering the Valorant competitive circuit for the first time by picking up the former Bren Esports roster of the Philippines.
A day after Bren Esports announced its parting ways to the Valorant roster that topped the VCT 2021: Southeast Asia Stage 3 Challengers, Team Secret announced its signing of the former Bren Esports’ Valorant roster, Thursday.
“Open up the sky! Our agents have landed. We are happy to welcome our Secret Agents to our Valorant division,” said in the announcement of the European-based esports organization.
The roster consisting of former CS:GO veterans Kevin “Dispenser” Te, Jim “BORKUM” Timbreza, Jayveee “DubsteP” Paguiran, Riley “Witz” Go, and former Dota 2 pro Jessie “JessieVash” Cuyco, will now represent Team Secret, one of esports’ biggest organizations.
Still coaching the squad is Gilbert “Gibo” Sales.
Bren Esports announced yesterday, Wednesday, the release of its Valorant roster despite their phenomenal run in the VCT SEA Challengers Stage 3 against Paper Rex and earned a ticket to the Masters Berlin — the first Philippine team to do so — but were unable to attend the international tournament due to not securing visas in time.
Riot said it tried to work out a solution with relevant governmental agencies in the Philippines and Germany, but was unable to obtain their visas on time due to the ongoing COVID-19 travel restrictions in Europe.
Even though the roster has left Bren Esports, the rules state that “the circuit points will remain with the roster of players if three of the five sign to the same org.”
This means that Bren will get 175 VCT points and prize money for qualifying for the tournament and will retain its chance to fight for qualification to VCT Champions at the end of the year.
