UE STUDENT COUNCILS CALL FOR ACADEMIC EASE DURING ECQ

/ 7 August 2021

TO HELP  learners who were unable to enroll on time, student councils at the University of the East appealed anew to the college deans to impose an academic ease during the enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila.

The University Student Council, along with other college councils, sent a letter to the college deans asking that no submissions and quizzes will be allowed during the lockdown.

“Despite the fact that the enrollment period has been extended, this will guarantee that all late enrollees will be able to compromise on the lessons and activities they have missed,” the councils said.

“It has been really hard for the students and their families to provide and fulfill the needed payment just to continue their education since the administration has been continuously neglecting and imposing anti-student policies as this health crisis started,” they added.

The groups stressed that a short academic ease will help those students “who strive and persist to be able to enroll this academic year and pursue their dreams.”

UE-Caloocan College of Business Administration Dean Emeteria Dalisay on Friday said that she will ask faculty members “to extend compassion to all the students.”

“If there is a faculty who gives an exam on or before the lifting of ECQ, I will personally help the student approach his/her professor to request for a special exam. I think that is reasonable enough,” Dalisay said.
