The game announced on its website that the games for the main stage will be held at the country’s largest stadium—Arena Nationala.

The tournament was initially scheduled to take place in Sweden but was scrapped after its government’s snub.

18 teams from all over the world will battle it out to compete and bag the grand prize of the P1.9 billion tournament.

The group stage will be played from October 7-10, while the Main stage will kick off on October 12 until the 17th.

“We are grateful for the partnership we have formed with Romania and the city of Bucharest, and very much look forward to gathering with the global Dota 2 community, both in-person and virtually, to celebrate the elite players and amazing fandom at The International. Prepare yourselves. At long last, the battle begins,” Dota 2 said on its website.

Five Filipinos will compete at the tournament in hopes of getting immortalized at the Aegis of the Immortals, and getting a chunk of the prize pool.

The players are Abed Azel ‘Abed’ L. Yusop who plays for North American squad Evil Genuises, Karl Matthew ‘Karl’ Baldovino, and Carlo ‘Ku’ Palad from ‘T1’ who all received direct invites after securing enough Dota Pro Circuit Points.

The other two are Marc Polo Luis ‘Raven’ Fausto and Djardel ‘Dj’ Mampusti from Fnatic, who made it through the Southeast Asia regional qualifiers.
