DLSU STUDENT DESIGNS BOAT MADE OF PLASTIC BOTTLES
BOTHERED by the amount of waste found in oceans, Adem Inovejas, a student of the De La Salle University, designed a boat made of plastic bottles.
The 19-year-old founder of the Project Blue Ilocos said that he was inspired by a similar project initiated by non-profit organizations in Indonesia and Africa.
“Most of these trash are single-use plastics so in February, I made it my goal for the month to come up with a project,” Inovejas said.
The boat he designed was made of around 300 pieces of used plastic bottles. The frame was made of bamboo.
The boat can accommodate four to six persons.
“I want to explore making it smaller, making it more hydrodynamic, more pointy so it can flow better on water,” he said.
He wanted the boat tried by fishermen in their area to see how much more he can improve on it.
