HINILING ni Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez sa House Committee on Higher and Technical Education na magsagawa ng imbestigasyon in aid of legislation sa paniningil ng ilang kolehiyo at unibersidad ng miscellanous fees at iba pang bayarin sa panahon ng Covid19 pandemic.

Sa paghahain ng House Resolution 1575, sinabi ni Rodriguez na matinding paghihirap ang dinaranas ng buong mundo dahil sa pandemya.

“Due to the lockdown, families and individuals suffered income loss as non-essential establishments and public transportation were shut down,” pahayag ni Rodriguez.

Kasabay nito, binigyang-diin ng mambabatas na sa kabila ng pagtigil ng face-to-face learning, may mga kolehiyo at unibersidad pa rin ang naghain ng aplikasyon para sa tuition increases.

“The application for tuition increase is very questionable because as a result of online schooling, the operational costs of colleges and universities have decreased,” pahayag pa ni Rodriguez sa resolution.

Isa pa sa kinukuwestiyon ng mambabatas ang paniningil ng miscellanous fees at iba pang bayarin para sa library, medical and dental at computer laboratories.

Ipinunto pa niya na inamin na rin ni Commission on Higher Education Chairman Prospero De Vera na may mga estudyante at magulang ang hindi malaman saan kukuha ng panggastos para sa paglipat sa flexible learning system.

“These colleges and universities should be more considerate of the plight of our students and their families as many of then have suffered a decrease in income,” diin pa ng kongresista.
