PHILIPPINES’ ALEX EALA VICTORIOUS OVER LOCAL BET ALBA CARRILLO MARIN, TO ADVANCE IN SPAIN ITF TOURNEY
Fresh from her recent first-ever International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women's Singles title, the rampaging Filipina tennis ace sustained her momentum, winning victoriously her seventh straight game overall.
Filipina teen tennis star Alex Eala maintained her hot winning streak in Mallorca, Spain, after beating hometown bet Alba Carrillo Marin in the second round of the second leg of the W15 Manacor ITF Rafael Nadal Academy World Tennis Tour on Thursday.
The Philippines’ tennis champion outshined Marin in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, to secure a quarterfinal berth in the second leg of the W15 Manacor in Mallorca, Spain.
The 15-year-old Eala entered as a tourney Junior Reserve player and was quick to dominate the first set, sustaining her momentum until the second to seal the victory over the 24-year-old with her swift left-hand strokes in the match that lasted for one hour and 23 minutes.
It was a big victory for Eala as she defeated Marin, who holds a WTA rank of 547, and No. 56 in ITF.
Meanwhile, the Filipina netter who only turned pro last year is at 1670 (ITF) and 1190 (WTA).
Eala now moves on to the quarterfinals, where she will be facing the seventh-seeded Swiss Ylena In-Albon.
