REVISED GRADING SYSTEM FOR CAGAYAN STATE UNIVERSITY TO CONFORM WITH NEW LEARNING APPROACH
CAGAYAN State University is adjusting its grading system for the incoming school year after government institutions declared that synchronous and asynchronous learning approach will be implemented amid the Covid19 pandemic.
“Cagayan State University faculty members were directed to follow a new grading system for academic year 2020-2021, with the breakdown of grades as follows: 20 percent for submission of assigned activity, 30 percent for student engagement/forum discussion, 30 percent for quizzes and unit examination, and 20 percent for major examinations (midterm and finals),” the university announced.
The school adjusted its grading system in response to students’ inquiries regarding the new mode of learning and how will they be able to cope up especially with most of the learners having no gadgets and internet connectivity.
“During this pandemic, it is deemed appropriate that we make necessary adjustment in our grading system in the undergraduate programs and make students assessment for relevant,” Vice President for Academic Affairs Mariden Caulian said in a statement.
Furthermore, the school will only allow and provide online guidelines and consultations for students and parents as the administration decided to put the main campus and external campuses into lockdown after two employees have been reported positive of Covid19.
Classes in CSU will start on August 17.
