GLOBAL INNOVATIVE COLLEGE JOINS BUSINESS COMPETITION
EIGHT students of the Global Innovative College represented the Philippines in an international business competition organized by the Singapore University.
Professor Jayson Bergania, director for Innovative Holistic Development Education, said the GIC students were tapped to represent the country in the Virtual Business Start Up Competition which is open for business students from countries belonging to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Because of the pandemic, Bergania said the students trained virtually for the competition.
“So nag-virtual na lang kami, para siyang booth camp… ituturo, I coach lahat ng mga bata on how to think on the innovative business concept ide-develop mo ‘yan and then magpi-pitch kayo in front of investors,” he added.
The students were tasked to do business conceptualization and present a business plan or idea to the investors.
GIC professors and some professors from Singapore University served as the students’ coaches.
Bergania said the students were thankful for joining the competition.
“We were able to clarify to them that learning is not confined sa classroom. Totoo naman eh, ‘di ba? Dapat ang learning must be experiential and learning must be relevant,” he said.
